Types of Equity Release SchemesThis is a big step.
Age UK (previously Age Concern) and the Financial Services Authority both recommend getting independent financial advice before proceeding with any Equity Release, Home Reversion or Home Income plan. We are please to say that we appear on the list of advisers on the Age UK (Norfolk) list of advisers.
As Independent Financial Advisers we will look at your overall finances to see if equity release really is the best option for you and if it is, we will find the right type of scheme for you – bearing in mind that in some cases you could risk losing state benefits and may have to pay extra tax.
Any scheme which we recommend will conform with the principles and standards laid down by SHIP, the organisation for safe home income and equity release plans.
Money released from the value of your principle residence is free of tax, although if the cash is then invested there may be tax to pay on any income or growth.
If you don’t have children or family to leave your property to, then a traditional equity release or home reversion plan might seem to be an attractive choice.
If you want to preserve the value of your property and can afford to make monthly payments of interest, then a lifetime mortgage may be better.
